Miami, Florida – January 25, 2010 – Today a customized version of The Vehicle Production Group LLC’s (VPG) MV-1 is being unveiled at the International Limousine, Charter & Tour Show (LCT) in Las Vegas. The spacious interior of the MV-1 allows the vehicle to be up-fit to meet many transportation needs.
The MV-LX demonstrates how up-fitting the spacious interior of the MV-1 delivers an unrivaled chauffeur-driven experience for all clients with the versatility to transport a new base of clients in wheelchairs in the same luxury. Featuring sumptuous leather seating that comfortably fits four adults in the rear seat and two adults in a rear facing front seat, the MV-LX offers space and accessibility for one to six passengers. The front seat is easily removed to accommodate wheelchairs and scooters of all sizes allowing people with disabilities to enjoy luxury transportation with up to four more seated companions. Surpassing the competition, the MV-LX also offers more luggage space than any luxury sedan. The low step-in height helps guests graciously enter and exit the vehicle, even in formal attire and high-heels.
In the United States, the MV-1 is the first passenger car built from the ground up to meet or exceed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) vehicle guidelines. Unlike other wheelchair-accessible vehicles, it is not a conversion or aftermarket retrofit. Safe, durable, and less expensive than other accessible vehicle choices, the MV-1 was specifically designed to meet the demands of fleets as well as individual consumers.
The MV-1 production will commence at the AM General plant in Mishawaka, Indiana with volume production beginning in October. AM General, which designs and produces the military HUMVEE and assembles the HUMMER H2, has a world-renowned reputation for building rugged vehicles, based on eight decades of successful innovation and growth. Durability and safety are critical to MV-1 customers and AM General is best positioned to help deliver on those needs.
An OEM-engineered and factory assembled dedicated Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fuel system is an available option on the MV-1 to ensure the same durable and reliable green solution for environmentally sensitive clients without compromising space, luxury or luggage capacity. The clean-burning CNG vehicle features a range of 250 miles and a cargo volume index of 29.1 ft3. As a result of a strategic partnership between VPG and Clean Energy Fuel Corp., Clean Energy intends to expand its CNG fueling infrastructure in key US markets to support fleets operating the CNG powered MV-1.
The MV-1 features 56-inch high and 36-inch wide side doors for easy wheelchair entrance via a wide ramp that carries a 1200-pound capacity yet easily stores beneath the floor inside the vehicle and protected from the elements. The standard MV-1 can accommodate five passengers plus the driver, including up to two forward facing common wheelchairs.
Experience the accessible luxury of the MV-LX design firsthand at LCT, January 25 to 27. VPG is taking preproduction reservations for the MV-1 at this time, visit www.vpgautos.com or contact sales@vpgautos.com, 786-230-2100 to reserve an MV-1 today.
